Connect Google Search Console with Instagram, TikTok, X & YouTube
Linking Google Search Console to Social Media: Instagram, TikTok, X, & YouTube
It is commonly known that Search Console is designed for websites. This perception is outdated.
Google now allows you to link your social media accounts like Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube in the Search Console as separate platform properties. You no longer need a website for this. It enables you to monitor how your posts appear on Google Search and Discover rather than just in the app's own analytics.
If you're a content creator, brand, or agency that manages multiple social media accounts, this is an actual tool you may find helpful and free.
What Is a Platform Property?
A platform property is just an entry into Google Search Console but for social profiles/channels rather than websites. After adding, you can see how this particular account is being found by Google - clicks, impressions, searches, average position, and what kind of content brings more exposure.
Each social account needs to be added separately and no website ownership is necessary to do that. Therefore, it is very helpful for creators, influencers, publishers, and companies that create good content but do not always drive traffic back to their site.
Important note: this metric is related to finding via Google only. It doesn't substitute for in-app metrics such as likes, followers, watch time, etc. You will have to use TikTok Analytics/Instagram Insights for that.
Adding Social Accounts: 3 Ways

Step 1: Access Google Search Console
Sign in using your Google account, access the property selector and click on "Add property."
It is important to remember that adding a social account does not affect your current website properties in any way - they remain unchanged. A social media account will be added as an entirely different property.
Step 2: Select the Platform
Select Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube from the options available, click "Add" next to the chosen platform and add the corresponding profile/channel. In case you need to add accounts for multiple brands or clients, make sure to choose the right one.
Step 3: Verify Ownership
Following the prompts, log in to the social media account and give it permission to connect to Search Console. After verification of ownership, click "Go to property."
The reporting is not immediately available - it may take up to a few days before the data appears. As every account requires its property, you will have to go through the above process again for every profile.
Connecting Each Platform: What’s New
Include Instagram in your platform properties, login to your specific account, and authenticate the platform. With this connection, you will be able to see which Reels, Posts, and Stories are appearing on Google - for instance, viewing a story counts as an impression while clicking counts as a click.
TikTok
It works similarly - include TikTok in your platform properties and authenticate. Here, you will be able to see what type of videos are generating Google impressions and clicks. This does not take the place of TikTok Analytics, but complements it by highlighting the discovery through Google. Do take note of tutorial-type videos, compare-type, and explainers.
YouTube
Register your YouTube channel and ownership and Search Console will track performance of your videos in Search and Discover. An appearance of a video in the results will be counted as an impression and clicking the video link whether it opens it in a video viewer by Google will be tracked as well. Query reports can be quite helpful when trying to find out fresh video topics that people are looking for.
X
Register your X account as usual. It will be especially helpful when you have an account focused on threads, comments, product releases, or thought leadership.
What You Can Actually Track

Once the integration is done, three key reports become available:
Performance Report - Reveals clicks, impressions, average CTR and average position. Filtering is possible based on post, query, date, country, device, and search type. Data from Discover and Google News appears here only if the account has access to that kind of traffic.
Impressions: frequency at which the content appeared
Clicks: frequency at which the users clicked on it
CTR: percentage of impressions leading to clicks
Average position: rough indication of the ranking
Insights Report - Short report with a summary of the recent tendencies and highest-performing content, without creating filters or setting up additional dashboards.
Achievements - Click-based milestones for monitoring growth in Google discovery traffic.
How to Actually Use This Data
Low CTR, high impressions - your content is visible but not being clicked. This is typically an issue with the title, thumbnail, or first line.
Increased CTR or clicks - do more of this. Make content answering follow-up questions in search.
Consistent queries - if you see the same questions consistently, make content about them. If it's on multiple channels, maybe even a Reel/TikTok/Short or thread for it. If the queries come from multiple platforms, it may need its own campaign or page on your site.
Compare consistent time periods - compare the last 28 days versus the previous 28, not inconsistent periods. Also, don’t just base decisions on click-through rate - increased impressions can indicate you’re gaining search visibility even without clicks yet.
Limitations to Consider
Properties are just a means of tracking discovery via Google. They will not provide you with the entire range of metrics that you can obtain using the full-fledged platform analytics tools.
This release is still gradual, and some accounts may not have all the tools yet. Moreover, Google will occasionally be verifying the account ownership, and if the authorization expires, this will block your data until you log in again.
Final Words
Using social media account connections in Search Console allows you to track the performance of your content in Google Search without relying on the algorithms of the respective platforms. Just connect the accounts, verify the ownership, wait a couple of days for data to accumulate, and start exploring Performance and Insights reports. It doesn't matter whether it's Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or X, as the process of adding an account will be the same.
